Death Bell

I'm starting to develop an appreciation for asian horror, and the fine folks at FearNet recommended this one for me. The trailer's on YouTube

Re-Animator 2. Nothing to say. Gory enough but not as catchy as the first one. Should I watch part 3 after that?

Yeah it's not the greatest but it has a few moments that make it worth a watch at least.

I thought 3 was better than the second. So yea, go nuts.

Movies seen in this month so far....

>> Beyond the Limits (2003) : B-

>> The Fields (2011) : C+

Needed a background story for those unknown 'home invaders' or antagonists. It had a nice premise with some potential to set an interesting tale but turned out quite simple & unsatisfying at the end.

>> Dragon Eyes (2012) : C-

>> Villa Captive (2011) : B-

A French indie home invasion+rape & revenge flick, not bad.

>> Livide (2011) : B+

This is the new film from the director duo of 2007 French Gore classic INSIDE. Very beautifully filmed with great scores & impressive creepy premise, LIVIDE tells the story of Lucie, a young woman who has just taken on a new job as an assistant helping the elderly in their homes. After her employer "conveniently" tells Lucie about a rumor that Madame Jessel (an elderly comatose woman who is as dilapidated as the creepy Victorian house she resides in!) has a lot of money hidden in her home, Lucie brings her boyfriend and his brother with her to break into the Jessel manor in search of fortune. And yeah...the trio just picked the wrong mansion to rob as they soon realize there are evil forces waiting to torture and butcher the insatiable group of friends. The premise was pretty effective for a haunted house film & the INSIDE maker used it almost convincingly most of the time through building the suspense & delivering the chills & jump scares nicely in almost two-third of the film but the problem comes with the surprise elements of the plot as the back story wasn't that much clear and eventually things get pretty weird at the final act. The film doesn't seem to know which genre it wants to be...a nice haunted house story ended in a weird-creepy fairy tale fashion! But still I'd say overall it's definitely worth a watch. The cast was okay and at least there were some decent gore & creep elements that they delivered finely.

>> The Darkest Hour (2011) : C+

>> Enter Nowhere (2011) : B-

A hilariously twisted slow-burn thriller.

>> Contagion aka Bio-Slime (2010) : C-

>> Cassadaga (2011) : B-

The production value & characterization were nice but kinda cliched story.

>> Gone (2012) : B

Quite formulatic but a decent time passing thriller.

Sold.

And Dragon Eyes was just another mediocre action flick? Figures...

White Lightning

Enjoyed this one. Expected a bit more shitkicker bluegrass on the soundtrack. There were some great lines had me laughing my ass off. Think I'll have to check out some more old school Burt Reynolds flicks.
