Horror movie buffs: I need help

I love horror movies, in fact, they're all I watch. But one I saw as a child has been pestering me for 10+ years. I cannot find it anywhere, and I do not know the name.

To the best of my recollection, it is set in a house. There are creatures who are afraid of light, they attack the house and the family. The creatures break the circuit box, then come inside. The family fights them with camera flashes. Unfortunately, this is almost all I remember. It's definitely pre-90's.

The thing about fighting the monsters with camera flashes sounds really familiar, but I can't manage to place it. Anybody else know this one. I'm sure I've seen it, but I can't think of what it is.
