H.R. Giger

Anyone who is familiar with the horror genre, should be familiar with the infamous H.R. Giger. Giger's first book, Necronomicon was the inspiration for Ridley Scott's Alien (1979). The film earned Giger a 1980 Oscar for Best Achievement in Visual Effects for the design of the Xenomorph. Giger has also done design work on Alien 3, Poltergeist 2 and Species.

Music fans will aslo be happy to know that Giger has designed album art for Blondie's Debbie Harry and the Dead Kennedys aswell as several signature Ibanez guitars.

You can visit his website for a more in depth biography and to see his works.

He also designed the cover for Emerson, Lake and Palmer's (an older, psychedelic rock supergroup for those who aren't old men like me) album Brain Salad Surgery, as well as some of Jonathon Davis of Korn's props. Check his shit out, its very disturbing and biomechanical, otfen with an overt sexual theme.

Edit: its been a while since I've been to this site. I had forgotten how unsettling his stuff really is. A few of the things mentioned above can also be found in the site.

yeah, if you know the sames of some of his works you like specifically please post them. It's easier to see them on the site if you know the name. Johnathan Davis' microphone stand is actually really beautiful. I'm a really big fan of Giger's sculptures. Usually in sculpture you don't see a lot of detail but Giger is a genius in the way he uses detail. That's one thing that really turns me on so to speak with his art.
