Hellraiser

Been reading the Hellraiser graphic novels recently. Really good, great expansion on the story. Just thought I would throw out the recommendation if anyone was interested.

Seems like horror translates really well to graphic novel form. Have you ever given thought to revising BAK in this way?

I really have thought about it. Writing Graphic novels would be easy enough generally the story is really told through imagery and the writing is to a minimum. The biggest problem... I have zero artistic talent. Lol!

You believe I managed to get about 50 downloads over that weekend and not a single review... Lol. I wonder how many where in the same position you where.

Here's what was frustrating to me: Amazon lets you "sell" the book for free but you can't post a review unless your customers pay money!

Yeah, the info I got is that the account has to have bought anything from Amazon before. So if you bought a razor for a dollar once, they would let you review. Its their way of making sure I don't just make a hundred accounts and review my own book over and over.

^ No trust in its fellow man anymore. Yet I can't say I entirely blame Amazon for that rule. Chances are it was done before and that's why the rule was placed.

Incidentally I did download and try to read your story, Jake. It was too good I'm afraid. I wasn't able to get past the skinning of the rabbit. ^^;
I can handle most gore movies just fine but reading it is a different story. (pun not intended)

To be on topic, very interested in these graphic novels! Have any links on where to acquire them?

Aww you make me blush! Lol, the more intense parts like that are few and far between. I tried to dabble the gore and concentrate more on making you feel Michaels spiral into insanity. So I say, skip that chunk and keep reading, its not so gory after that, and you can kind of see when more is coming.

As for Hellraiser, ironically, Amazon is the best place online but I buy mine from Half Price Books.

If you haven't written comics before, it's not as easy as you think. It's a constant struggle to say as much as possible with as little as possible, so as not to cover up the art.

I used to try to write scripts, but everything changed when I moved on to page layouts. The ideas in the script were usually wrong. Now I write loose suggestions of what the page might be, and do most of the "writing" on the page. Often the dialogue doesn't get finalized until the page is drawn, and it ends up being totally different than what I thought it would be.

That's impressive. How did you market it? I'm having almost no luck with the internet.

What I've found so far is that people are more disturbed by the lingering comic images. They don't cut away like movie images do.
