Anyone seen Infestation? I think that one was pretty good.
Arac Attack/Eight Legged freaks was good too. Technically not insects but still creepy crawlers.
Or Starship Troopers (I love that movie). They were alien but still insects.

And for those who've seen Zombeavers
"the ending when the bee goes to infected blood: Zombees"
Not sure if that would work, but could be interesting.
I liked Infestation a lot. Nice work on a small budget. I'm also a fan of Eight Legged Freaks. It's just as ridiculous as a David Arquette film about a giant spider invasion should be.
Which reminds me, anyone see Giant Spider Invasion? If you love the "so bad its good " movies, its a winner. The Deadly Mantis is another favorite. Some hilarious dialogue in that one.

i always feel there is something slightly joyless about those who refuse to enjoy these sort of movies.

repo'd, crap, crap, how very dare you!

The fact that it wants to be serious may slightly lower my overall feelings for it. Has anyone seen 'Spiders' 2013. it is pretty good and definitely a lot better than the low ratings it received. I can also DEFINITELY recommend 'big ass spider' (2013) not only is it good it's also very funny as well, and generally full of greatness

I love Baron's suggestion of the film 'zombees', i demand it be made! It also needs a great tag line for it, Something akin to 'bee afraid, bee very afraid'

I second this.

Serious? Come on. If you mean serious by having awesome looking wasps and gooey gore effects, okay. This was goofy as fuck from the old lady, to the grandson, to the mayor. I thought the catering couple had some nice chemistry. I really enjoyed this. Badass.

Lance.

The old lady was just some typical old lady. The son was a bit weird but nothing special. The mayor was avarage but the character was saved by the acting of Lance Henriksen.
Movie itself was too much about the couple.
Should've been about a group of survivors taking a stand against the waps instead of just trying to survive. The group would include some (former) marine, a jock/steroid type, a redneck (the movie was set in the country), a biker/rock dude with a shirt from the band W.A.S.P. and more.
Party also should have been bigger.
And at least one scene/kill with a flamethrower.

Oh you wanted a cheesy, everyday type of film, seen a million times.. just add wasps instead of spiders or some other type of insect/animal. Ah I see.

IMDb.. Comedy, Horror, Romance

Kinda, yeah.

It's not like "boy likes girl, girl hates boy, boy keeps trying, girl likes boy after all" hasn't been done a million times before.

And I'm aware of what IMDB says, but imo adding romance to the main storyline was a bad idea. It's a movie about giant killer wasps for feck's sake.

I don't have anything against love/romance in horror (or any kind of genre) as long as it's done right. Bram Stoker's Dracula, Spring and Re-Animator come to mind.

Oh, yeah. And this should've been used in the movie too:
