Right... he pisses on a lot of motherfuckers that call themselves horror directors. What modern horror directors to you consider to be able to direct films to save their lives?
Hmm... Maybe... John Carpenter?;)

with this keeping it true to its history. and put another layer to michael
myers character. and lent another layer when he got older, and the depth of
his character.

Um...what movie did you watch?

I didn't think it was that bad really - but how in the name of God do you think it was even vaguely "true to its history"?!?

I agree that Rob Zombie did a nice job keeping true to the original. I agree with some that it was just another opportunity to cast in friends in a movie. I like the actors/actresses he used in his previous two films, but I think some of them just weren't right for some of the roles. But I still enjoyed the film.

The only casting call I had a problem with was Malcolm McDowell as Loomis, it just didn't work for me.
Watched it again this afternoon after only previously seeing the workprint. Very different endings that make MM two completely different characters.

That is very true. I actually had to go out and buy both versions of the film on DVD...because there were aspects of the theatrical and director's cut that I liked. But they don't appear in any one cut. Malcolm McDowell didn't bother me that much, because I'm a fan of his...but no way in hell does he come anywhere close to Donald Pleasance.

So the workprint is closer to what was screened theatrically? It didn't get a release over here and the only version on DVD is the directors cut.

Actually...there was a lot in the workprint that wasn't actually shown in either version, but there were some similarities. I friend showed me the workprint, and I was not impressed with that at all. Didn't feel like a Halloween film to me.
