THE FRANKENSTEIN EXPERIMENT AKA THE PROMETHEUS PROJECT 2010

A top notch medical team are secreted away to produce a stem cell rejuvenating serum but end up creating a monster of biblical proportions.

Very nice.

Creep (2014)
"When a videographer answers a Craigslist ad for a one-day job in a remote mountain town, he finds his client is not at all what he initially seems."

Boring found footage movie with a message:
"Craigslist is bad, mkay?"

Why?
I saw about a dozen new releases this month. Out of those I liked 4:

Let Us Prey (2014)
We Are Still Here (2015)
The Asylum aka Backmask aka Exeter (2015)
Buddy Hutchins (2015)

Or maybe I'm just older and I've seen so many movies I became picky.

I think that has become my problem. I find myself getting bored easily with horror movies lately.

I think that's one of the reasons I prefer less serious horror or horror-comedy. It's often refreshing imo.
Movies like Rare Exports, Bad Milo, Tucker & Dale VS Evil, Cabin In The Woods, What We Do In The Shadows, The Voices, Wolfcop, Housebound,...

Wow I'm the opposite. There's maybe 1 or 2 horror-comedies that I actually enjoyed.

It seems to me most horror movies coming out these days are studio films made not to expensively so they can get a decent profit regardless of the quality of the script. Similarly the non-studio(hollywood) films seem to focus on gore and torture porn. None of them are telling good stories or doing a good job of compelling emotion in the watcher. Besides cringing at death scenes or mutilation scenes there isn't much to draw the viewer in. A rare exception would be The Human Centipede. Besides the gore/disgust factor the watcher can feel the distress, horror, and extreme dislocation. The mad doctor is a somewhat amusing counter weight that keeps the viewer able to cope? with what is occurring if they're viscerally engaged.
Another rare example would be Byzantium. While not very gory or horrifying, there's still a great effort to elicit awe and mystery. A counter example would be most torture porn where the, almost always woman which is disturbing, victims become non-entities. Bodies without a person inside them, at least to the viewer. So there's no connection with the characters. Or the story. The victims are props.

Ok i'll stop, could probably go on, but yeah, if I want anyone to read this... :)
