Lord of the Rings : The Fellowship of the Ring

A very heavy film, and epic to be sure, but I still loved it no matter what people say.

9/10

Punisher: war zone. An excellent, but gory comic book film. I was suprised at how gory this movie was actually. I'm glad they made another punisher movie after that crapfest they made in 2004. Man did that movie suck...

Patton (1970) - 9/10.

Excellent film. George C. Scott was perfect playing Patton.

Monsters, Inc. (2001)

4/5

An intelligent film which not only succeeds at pure and natural entertainment but also as a commentary on entertainment itself. Just like a certain 1941 Preston Sturges movie, the revelation of the power of laughter (especially in its superiority over terror) is a theme both maturely complex and innocently simplistic. Backed by a superb voice cast and an elite direction team, the film also serves as an incredible milestone in animation; hair waves, eyes water, bodies move rhythmically with breath. And best of all, the film ends on what is probably Pixar's most touching final note- a sweet and gentle sigh of kindness.

The Incredible Hulk.

Revisits can be more entertaining than the initial viewing. In fact, I realised I was more partial towards Hulk than Iron-Man, but Iron-Man was still the better made movie.

Anyway, Hulk did most things right than the Ang Lee version. In Edward Norton we had someone who did the character of Bruce Banner a lot of justice, Tim Roth as Blonsky/Abomination was a real shot-in-the-arm revelation, and the CGI was really jaw-dropping and awe-inspiring.

Cons - Liv Tyler. She didnt fit the bill of Elisabeth Ross for some reason. I actually preferred Jennifer Connelly's version a lot more. Also General Ross. The guy had an empathic look on his face throughout the flick, unlike the real Ross who was a hardened sob who didnt take shit.

Still, this is the sort of Hulk movie everyone would expect. The character is larger than life, and he deserves a larger than life treatment.

Rating - * * *
