also check out 'the burning' not really a flamethrower type thing, but has some crispy goodness in it, plus the exterminator was also 'flire it up' time if i remmber correctly. i do like 'driller killer', its very seedy, however i wish it was more 'nasty' and had more drill scenes in it. Unfortunately i was caught up in the massive 'its so brutal' hype that surrounded it, years before i actually saw it, and this led to dissapoinment. It was a case of impossible to live up to the hype, still its a good movie. Not seen bellflower but will check it out

you seen 'bad lieutenant' repo'd? Keitel's best film, in my opinion. I remeber it caused quite a shock at the time because exploitation style had kinda died out and this helped relight the fuse. Ther's something extremely unpleasnat about Keitel in this movie, in just about every aspect. Good movie, but full of Ferrara's typical 'catholic redemption' cobblers, something that is a factor in many italian directors movies.

I liked The Burning, it's been ages since I've seen it last though. I can't help but giggle at Jason Alexander. Don't go in the house sounds cool, but I've never seen it before. |

you could also add late niight train murders, which is sleazy to the point of being offensive

And not all that entertaining, imo.

i quite like it, although it is pretty slow and dull at times. If you don't mind me asking repo'd what country are you from. i think you have mentioned Ireland is that right? If so did you struggle to find a lot of horrors like i did, after the 1984 act you pretty much couldn't get hold of certain films for love nor money. If you were lucky you found a gem of shop that had pirate nasties or the odd exploitationer and your only real point of reference was fangoria, if you found a shop that sold it that is. It was pretty barren for most of the mid eighties to 90s, then vipco and a few others appeared. It wasn't really till the net come along that you could get many of the films you wanted in there full gory glory

However, we have had similar experiences in our search for horror goodies. I did indeed find one of those "gems of a shop" that catered to the more unusual movie tastes. It helped me survive my youth! I could always count on the shop owner to not only pick up the not so mainstream horror flicks, but to make sure I knew exactly when they would be delivered, so that I would be the first to get my hands on it. That shop and Fangoria got me through a lot of years. Mind you, I'm an old timer so I had quite a few years before the advent of home video. This was back in the day when a horror freak like me would circle the scary stuff found in each weeks TV guide, and then drool like a rabid pup until the night the movie finally ran. |

the 1984 act over here banned many horrors making the viewing of then mext to impossible, also fangoria was hard to find due to it being a US magazine. Funnily enough, although i enjoy many prison movies and some sleaze i dislike sexploitation, it veers from nicely sleazy to crap soft porn. Also blaxploitation and kungfu and nunsploitation also leave me cold. What about you?

I like a ton of stuff and in almost every genre. I'm with you on the kung fu, and the only blaxploitation I like would be the Blacula films and some comedies from the 70's. There's too many nuns in my family for me to watch nunsploitation! it just feels weird. Now as for sexploitation,...if it's something like Satan's Cheerleaders I'm definitely a big time fan, but I have to agree that a lot of that subgenre is just ubersoft porn, and that's not any fun. My favorite subgenre is something I call " 70's Drive-in Super Crap ". Titles like The Creature From Black Lake, Horror High (aka Twisted Brain), Crater Lake Monster, Grizzly, Day of the Animals, and even the aforementioned Satan's Cheerleaders. These are the films I would drag my Mom to the theater to see when I was a kid, and they still keep me entertained to this day.I think its a mix of the easy pace, the campy dialogue, and the nostalgia. These flicks make me feel good. |
