Stardust

second viewing (this time in HD)
Enjoyed it every bit as much as the 1st time. Claire Danes is one of the most desireable women on the planet (finally i can say 'woman' and not feel like such an old pervert anymore)

by the same token - michelle pfeifer (sp?) never looked better - man she's better looking now than she was 20 years ago.

I like the the guy who played Septumus as well ..

Deniro was the only weak link. he played a gay man like a homophobe making fun of a gay man.

You like dem women with little boys' bodies, hmm? Me, I likes it with a little junk. :p

On a more serious note, very fun movie. I watched it again the other day for the umpteenth time.

I actually really liked the 2nd one...it was just so over-the-top and Troma-like that I laughed almost all the way through it. With this one it seems like they tried to go into the opposite direction (until the end) and make it all serious fucking business. Lots of "creepy" sewer crawling, a strobe light scene that seemed to last forever, and everyone covered in blood and screaming like they just came out of a French horror movie.

Also, I expected them to take the people that drove off in the car from the first movie and tell their tale, but instead we get basically Feast part 2-b or something...mostly the same characters from Feast 2 and lots of new character they they introduce and kill 10 minutes later. I mean for a supposed "happy ending" was it too much to expect them to wrap it up a bit? It just droned on...

The ending is completely absurd...which would have been a perfect ending if they had kept with the ludicrous direction they took with part 2, but when they tried to make it more like a legitimate horror movie and then pulled out the...

SPOILER
..robot foot and the mariachi player...

...they completely lost me.

TLDR version: Movie sucked. Sewer scenes too long. Stobe lights are not scary and VERY annoying. If I wanted to watch a french horror movie, I'd watch Inside.
I... am really behind my DVD Releases today.

Did not know that they had released this one already.

I am a BAAAAAAAAAAAAAD horror fan!

I picked up In the Mouth of Madness on a whim. I had no expectations and ended up being pleasantly surprised. I thought the acting was decent and the atmosphere was creepy. Some of the effects were a little cheesy for me but otherwise I thought it made for a good watch.

That was a fantastic little movie! I thought that Sam Neil really strained a bit, but what was great about ItMoM did well in incorporating a wide variety of horror writers (Steven King incorporating himself and then nodding to both Clive Barker and Lovecraft). It was actually pretty brilliant. I loved the story and the beasties especially.

In the Mouth of Madness is a classic, easily.
The last truly GREAT Carpenter flick, imo.

Ive often thought this to be an underrated film. What probably helped was, like you, having no expectations for the movie before I saw it for the first time.
