PC Help...
My computer has been doing this thing where it resets itself within the first few seconds of windows xp starting up. It usually does this a few times in a row before I can even DO anything without it simply resetting again.
So, when it stops this bullshit I get the little window popup that asks if I want to report the error or not. When I report the error, I am told that it's an error caused by a device driver, and then linked to THIS page: http://update.microsoft.com/windowsu....aspx?ln=en-us To supposedly fix it. I've tried the express install, doesn't do anything...can't find anything it thinks the pc needs. So I check out "custom", and I'm getting all of the "non-essential" software updates available. However, assuming that due to my shitty luck with pc's, it's not gonna work...Now, back to the error page that said it had something to do with a DEVICE DRIVER. My question is this - Is there a SAFE site that you can go to that can scan your pc for the device driver updates you NEED? 'cos yknow...there's a lot of those to just go through at random...anyways, I'd appreciate any advice. - B Last edited by ChEEbA; 09-10-2005 at 12:37 AM. |

Ok, I installed all the updates available through the abovementioned site.
The same thing happened AGAIN, but this time when the pc reset itself, the link leads me to the same page, but this time it says an error was caused by a GRAPHICS driver device. So, I know what that means. BUT, I've looked at the ATI site, and cannot seem to find where the device drivers are for my specific card. I have a: ATI Radeon 9200SE If anyone could link me to a place that has the recent driver updates for that, that'd be cool. Thanks. - B. |

Cheeba : If you are still having this issue, I suggest you check if you have the windows update service pack 2 or service pack 1. When I used service pack 2 my XP started doing some crazy shit too, so I went back to service pack 1 and all was good again. I suggest removing service pack 2 and go back to 1.
Hope this helps. |
