Grandpa Hates Visitors...Kills Grandson And His Friend...Gets Gunned Down By Police

Grandfather Shoots Grandkids; Gets Killed

Phoenix, Arizona - An elderly man gunned down two of his grandchildren and a family friend, then was shot and killed by police in north Phoenix on Monday.

Officials called it "a tragic domestic violence incident."

One of the grandchildren, identified only as an 18-year-old woman, and the 16-year-old family friend died.

Police did not release any names, but say the 84-year-old shot his 20-year-old grandson first and then the family friend.

He turned the gun on his granddaughter when she confronted him about the shootings, said Detective Bob Ragsdale. Fire officials said the granddaughter was hit three times.

The grandfather was upset because the family had allowed the teenage boy to stay at the home for a couple of days while his family moved, Ragsdale said. The teen was a friend of the grandson.

A woman inside the home called police at 9:11 a.m. to report the shootings, and her father hit her with the gun while she was on the phone, Ragsdale said.

When police arrived, the 20-year-old came out and told officers his grandfather had already shot two people and was still armed and "acting irrationally," Ragsdale said. A 10-year-old boy also came outside.

The grandfather was shot multiple times after he refused at least three commands to drop his gun and then pointed it at an officer, Ragsdale said.

Police said they weren't sure what triggered the shooting.

Often, Ragsdale said, "The motive dies with the person."

It's the perfect time if you're going to that sort of thing. Life's coming to end, not much more going on, kind of bored with just bingo...
