Not bad, though the story was kind of more suitable for X rated comedy, I guess. Colin Farrel reprise the role that Clint Eastwood did in 1971, I'd like to see that too sometime.

Wish Upon (2017)



Another "wish will come true with a deadly consequence" horror-thriller and this time it's from the director of Annabelle (2014)! It turned out what I thought it'd be.

The Corpse of Anna Fritz (2015)



Thought it'd be something similar to THE AUTOPSY OF JANE DOE or at least an interesting horror film but it turned out a plain thriller that kind of reminded me of Deadgirl (2008) though, which I need to give another watch as I can hardly recall anything about that other than a necrophilia sort of subject matter. In compare to most other modern day Spanish thrillers, it was quite average but not bad.

Cult of Chucky.

I was actually quite surprised.

I thought the last one (curse) was ok...kind've nice to see the franchise edge back into darker territory while steering, although not completely, away from the ridiculous.

Cult is just about as direct a sequel as you could ask for these days - bringing the two main characters from the modern and original era together.
I liked it. It was dark, moody, atmosphere wasn't bad, some interesting kills...and I much prefer the "new" concepts involved this one rather than the introduction of more outlandish characters.
This one's got a bit of everything for those that have liked various aspects/styles of the series throughout.

It's also nice to see Andy again, in more than just a post credits scene...and it's really shown how much of a toll the his experiences have taken on his life and who he's become.
Chucky was really enjoying himself too, and his character felt a bit more like the "old" Chucky this time around.

Anyways, I actually liked it quite a bit more than "curse".
Not sure if they intentionally left it as incomplete as it was, it's almost like having watched half of a movie - I was really enjoying it, and when it ended when/how it did, it seemed quite abrupt and I'd really hope that they intend to follow this up with another.

Check it out. It's probably the first in the franchise I've enjoyed anywhere near as much as either of the first two.

I don't think he killed it though? *after looking it up* Ok maybe I just told myself he just kicked it... it's seen from a distance so it's easy to assume the dog could still be alive. Don't read the book though... from my understanding that scene is a lot more horrific...

At least he didn't go all the way with the cat. Felt bad for that lady though. She gave her life so the kitty could live</3

I went and saw Flatliners yesterday with my uncle and brother the other day. It was an okay movie. The original was a lot better. The only thing that I loved about it was how Kiefer Sutherland made a small appearance.

Gerald's Game (2017)



Under the surface of supernatural, creepy elements or a horrifying survival scenario, Stephen King is a master class writer who often likes to create relatable characters having deep emotional experiences that people endure in their lifetime through darkest fear or a difficult past. GERALD'S GAME's central character Jessie Burlingame is also very much like that, she finds herself in a fight for survival after a planned weekend with her husband in a remote retreat accidentally takes a harrowing turn; and now she must confront & struggle with her own demons, disturbing memories & a fractured psyche to get out from that very awkward & near impossible situation.
Today's one of the most promising young horror filmmakers Mike Flanagan here just gave us a superb adaptation of King's one of the most less discussed novels by hitting the right cord - providing perfect emphasis on the main character & her inner struggle like the way other great filmmakers (i.e. Darabont, Romero) with successful King adaptation did in their movies. And Carla Gugino on the lead remarkably turned it into her own show where she showcased quite a powerful performance with lasting impression.
The way Flanagan captured the heart of King's story with a small but stellar cast, this is surely going to regard as one of the very few but most finest Stephen King adaptations made in recent years.
