hated Pi though
Yeah I meant Aronofsky. I only saw RfaD once a few years ago and I remember not being very impressed by it, but that was probably because everyone had been nagging me to go see it so I was expecting the second coming of Christ or something rather than just a good movie. I need to re-watch it, I think.

Haven't seen Pi but the friend who tipped me off on The Fountain loved Pi. What didn't you like about it? (without spoiling, please :p)

I loved Pi it's a great paraniod moder noir flick. I liked Requim for a Deream when it came out but have grown to hate it. I just don't buy any of the characters as junkies.

The Wrestler is one of my favorite films period. Haven't watched The Fountain.

Maybe that was my problem too with RfaD; the characters were so, well... out of character. Their addiction wasn't believable. But watch The Fountain! Everyone needs to watch The Fountain! If nothing else it's a visual masterpiece.

Meanwhile, I'll try and look into Pi. ^^

No. I enjoyed both of those movies. And, as I said I would do, today I saw:

The Wolfman (2010)

Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief (2010)

The House of the Devil (2009)

Finally got around to seeing this, and yes. We can only hope for more modern horror like this, not afraid to skip the cheap, easy scares/thrills in favor of brooding, creeping anxiety and atmosphere. I've heard a lot about it being slow-paced, but I thought that was one of its strengths. Plus a pretty authentic 80s aesthetic was fun to watch.
