10 Albums That Influenced Me the Most

This is a list for no one's amusement but my own (few people other than maybe Newb will know any of them)
These are the albums that - when i heard them - i had to buy everything they did ..huge influences on the way i listened to music.

These arent in any kind of order.

Queen - Night at the Opera. This had nothing to do with the overrated Bohemian Rhapsody which i never played.
It had everything to do with Death on 2 Legs, and I'm in Love With My Car.

Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon. The first band i heard that not only made haunting music with an impact - but also utilized stereo to its greatest ability.

10CC - How Dare You. Music so crisp you felt like you were there in the studio while it was being recorded. Clever songwriters, origional stories to tell. Song that build slowly to a climax.

Sex Pistols - Never Mind the Bollocks. I need to say nothing about this album. A kick in the nuts to everything that isnt rock.

ACDC - Highway to Hell. Once I heard this album i never looked back

Strawbs - Hero and Heroine. Incredibly beautiful. Goth should be this good.

Sparks - Kimono My House. The 1st time i heard it i hated it. The second time i kind of liked it. The 3rd time i went out and bought 13 more of their albums. The funniest lyrics ever. Lead singer Russel Mael has the vocal range of Kate bush and sings in falsetto like no one else can. (appropriately)

Soft Boys - Underwater Moonlight. Thinking mans' post punk. Absolutely brilliant.

Elton John - Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy. Think Elton's a pussy ? well, ya he is - but he wasnt always. This is a pure album.

Genesis - Nursery Crymes. Until Gabriel left for a watered down career and Phil Collins did some watering of his own this was the most fascinating progressive rock band of all times. This was the 1st album I heard and it completely overwhelmed me. Songs as fantastical as the cover. This band probably had the greatest influence on me .. I continue to listen to them regularily after almost 30 years since i found them.

well, thats 10. I might follow up with 10 more honerable mentions.

Nirvana - Nevermind. I learned how to play guitar to this album and also learned how to write music with this album.

Fugazi - 13 songs. The first fugazi album taught me a new style of punk, that doesn't have to be just power chords and how you dress

The Velvet Underground - Peel slowly to see, Helped me understand that no matter what people think of your music that if you try something different its always better than what all the follows are doing.

Radiohead - Hail to the Theif. They have some of the best song struture of all time.

The Beatles - Sgt Peppers. My first Beatles album. Just fucking blew me away.
