Ive got to find that Curse of the Crimson Altar. Its got one hell of a cast. I found a copy of Bride of Frankenstiein in one of the local video stores a couple days ago. Great show, the best of all the Frankenstein movies.

Just watched Psycho again the other day - one of my all time favourites.

I got completely into the story and found it very scary. When i first watched it in my teens, i never found it that scary - being into all the blood and gore films at the time, so old films like Psycho seemed tame in comparrison. But having watched it several times since, and with getting older, not liking the gore films so much, when i revisit an old film like this i realise how frightening it is.

It must have been incredible to have watched this film on its original release. Only knowing it was a Hitchcock film and going along for a look. You get into the story of Marion and her theft - will she get away with it? Is that cop on to her? The terrific tension caused by Bernard Herrmann's score. Then it seems she has changed her mind, after a talk with the young man at the motel. She's going to take the money back. And then... wham!!

It must have scared the hell out of audiences at the time because though you feel things aren't quite right, you would never have seen that coming.

A classic film as frightening now as it was 50 years ago.

Seeing the screenshots above - why has there never been a special edition dvd of The Curse of Frankenstein?

It would have been ready made for a commentary with the late Jimmy Sangster - as per on other Hammer titles. Sadly this can't happen now, but still a commentary with an expert like Marcus Hearn or Wayne Kinsey would be very good.

That's funny, I watched all 7 Dracula's a few weeks ago - over a 7 day period.

"Frankenstein Created Woman" (1966) The Fourth foray into the Hammer Frankenstein series. The Horror Channel showed the version with the restored Beheading scene so that was very interesting to see (especially as even with that scene the film is still rated PG lol) and I was very surprised that there was such a decent tragedy type story to it.
