Stephen King's "The Stand"

Vulture reports that Stephen King's The Stand, about survivors of a chemically weaponized super-flu, is now being penned by screenwriter David Kajganich after Kajganich wowed Warner Bros. with another recent King adaptation of the 1986 horror classic It – which, like The Stand, is being produced by Roy Lee and Doug Davison.

They also note that the last produced outbreak drama Kadjanich wrote for WB was 2007's underperforming Nicole Kidman vehicle The Invasion. Let's hope this goes better.

Ben Affleck is directing The Stand, based on the 1978 story of good vs. evil after a virus wipes out most of the American population. While it features dozens of characters (such as the Trashcan Man and Mother Abigail) and overlapping story lines running over many years, the struggle boils down to a group of survivors fighting the Antichrist-like Randall Flagg.

I don't know; it's a really long story. The four part mini series seemed to be the perfect length.

Yeah, that worries me immensely. It's one of King's best and you're seriously going to let Affleck get ahold of it? Who's directing IT, Matt Damon? No respect for King's work.

Man, I just wish Romero had been able to do his crazy adaptation back in the 80s.

Watch The Town and Gone Baby Gone and then come back in here and criticize Ben Affleck. He's actually a very talented director. Not sure if he's the best choice but i'll wait to pass judgement.

Didn't care for either actually, that's why I criticize. I know that they were both well received though, I just can't see him doing King, at least not doing it right. That is just my opinion, I have more respect for SK than that. I was very excited about Ron Howard directing The Dark Tower though, I think that's a no go now, anyone heard anything new about that?
