Alien on my mind...
Brace yourselves, I actually want to talk about a horror movie for once.
In the original Alien movie, what is that thing in the middle of the crashed spaceship? Not the alien creatures of the title, I'm talking about the corpse that's sitting under that weird telescope-like device, the one that's got a big hole punched in its chest. The other characters don't really say too much about it. Was it ever explained what it is or where it came from? Was it related to the other aliens? I only saw Alien 1-3 by the way.

Well supposedly that is the pilot of the ship, and its exploded chest is a foreshadowing of what is to come for the crew of the Nostromo--because this ship's crew was ALSO attacked by the multistage alien life forms.

The Pilot was also called The Space Jockey, and like the other alien's was also designed by Giger.
He was a different species and the eggs were cargo...one of which you are to assume got loose from the looks of the pilot. They really don't mention that at all in any of the movies.

I haven't seen Alien in a long time... I do wonder who had the eggs in the first place though. Who were they being delivered to and why? Did the person who sent them out know what they were and the danger they presented? Whoever was getting the eggs knew they were getting SOMETHING right? Were they planning on researching them or did the receiving party know what they were getting and had plans to use them in some nefarious manner? They should have used FedEx.
