Mark Wahlberg seriously seems like he is doing a parody in this. Its like his character in the Big Hit, whoch he obviously (nobody did) didnt take too seriously because it was a goofy action caper. But this is "Mr Somber" Shyamalan's turd.

You are correct on the shittyness of this movie. I was even hoping for Wahlberg to be more of his normal self just to add some type of personality to the movie. That's how dense it was.

Oh, and I saw Deliverance. I noticed it kind of seemed out of place on HDC's 100 disturbing, gorrific list so I thought I would check it out. Not bad at all. The acting and setting really make the movie. Not really disturbing by my standards but I can see how it can be considered such. 7/10.

A little. But compared to the Gimp in Pulp Fiction is seems tame. I also finished watching Ginea Pig: Flower of the Flesh and Blood so maybe I was shell shocked. But for some reason, I can't seem to finish Cannibal Holocaust... is that weird?

Okay, not bad for a remake, and Crispin Glover is really good.

However, one thing that bugged me about the original and this remake is they completely left out all the qualities that made the book so unique and interesting. Both of the movies concentrate on a relatively short period of time that is mainly the last third of the book or so.

In the book, after his mother dies, Willard explores the attic of his house and discovers a big rat head mask. He starts wearing this mask around town at night when he goes on excursions with his rat army, robbing and sometimes killing people. People start reporting a giant rat marauding with an army of rats. The town becomes hysterical. People won't go out at night, insurance salesmen hawk Ratman isurance. It gives the book another dimension the movies totally ignore.

It's really surprised me too! that was quite an interesting part of the story indeed. I haven't read the original story so thanks for notifying it out. Really, I'm now wondering why have they ignored this? For the movie length or what?

Length probably was part of it, but movie adaptations often pare a story down to its bare essentials so they can get the main point across. The book is called Ratman's Notebooks if you ever hear of it for sale, I recommend it. It's probably retitled Willard now, to capitalize on the movie.

hahaha! that's funny, the original title was better than the movie title.
Anyway, I'll definitely looking forward to it.

The Bat - loved it! I love how some of the old movies played it for laughs. Agnes Moorehead was fantastic. And the woman that played her assistant/maid was also fantastic.

We decided to have a double pack of 28 Days last night.


28 Days Later.

If ever there would be an example of cinematography selling a movie, this would be it. The visuals were gorgeous, especially the shots of the windmills, empty London, long shots of the city during daybreak/evening...very cool. Forget the actors and the plot for a moment, and watch this movie just for the slick work with the camera. You wont be disappointed.

Either way, Danny Boyle did a great job recreating a post-apocalyptic scenario. Some of the effects were quite brilliant, but some closeup shots revealed a bit too much of the bloated makeup - not cool in my book. The black chick got on my nerves more than once, but the hero and the Commander-in-charge of the Army holdout were good. Overall, it was pretty good and solid.

28 Weeks Later.

Same premise, slightly different perspective. Its basically what Days would have been, had they stuck to the city. **SPOILERS** Although I felt Robert Carlyle turning up everywhere was a bit much for a coincidence (esp after the firebombing), the pace was impressive enuff to keep me interested. And also the unique way of combating the virus wasn't handled that well, IMO. But in keeping with the storyline, they had to sacrifice a bit out of that. **END OF SPOILERS**

Performance-wise, the kid was good. The girl was annoying at times. The doc, sniper, and the copter pilot were competent. And yes, the scene with the chopper and the rage zombies was another awesome shot of brilliant cinematography. In fact that entire sequence was filmed really well. This one was as good as the original, IMO, but lacked some depth in certain parts.
