Extinction - The G.M.O Chronicles (2011)
>>: C Kill List (2011) The 1st act of the film is a downbeat Britt family drama about a "retired/job less" hit man. In the 2nd act after getting an assignment from an ominous employer we see some torture & gore contents and 3rd or final act comes somewhat with a 'wicker surprise' & everything finishes suddenly. It tired to be an arty horror film but their effort was actually wasted. The main idea or concept behind the story was fine but the way the film maker executed it was really disappointing. The cast & their acting was good but it was another (somewhat less) boring piece like Matha Mercy May Marlene. >>: C- Cropsey (2009) >>: B+ Nightmares in Red, White and Blue: The Evolution of the American Horror Film (2009) >>: B+

Fantastic film. A mind-blowing script (based on the book by John Le Carre, no less) is complimented by gritty performances, really brilliant cinematography and outstanding direction by the man who gave us Let the Right One In. This should be considered as a landmark in 2011 cinema, heck maybe all cinema in the 2000s. Highly recommended to anyone who loves espionage thrillers and brilliance in cinema story-telling. Be warned though, some of you might find it a bit of a slow-burn. * * * * ½
