Historical fiction can sometimes be too gimmicky, and this trailer doesn't convince me that The Raven won't be. But it definitely looks like it could be fun.

THE DIVIDE ...from the director of Frontiere(s), Xavier Gens.

In this graphic and violent, post-apocalyptic thriller starring Michael Biehn, Milo Ventimiglia, Rosanna Arquette, Courtney B. Vance and Lauren German, "nine strangers—all tenants of a New York high rise apartment—escape a nuclear attack by hiding out in the building’s bunker-like basement. Trapped for days underground with no hope for rescue, and only unspeakable horrors awaiting them on the other side of the bunker door, the group begins to descend into madness, each turning on one another with physical and psycho-sexual torment. Stars genre faves AJ Bowen (The Signal, House of the Devil, A Horrible Way to Die, Hatchet 2) and Anessa Ramsey (YellowBrickRoad, The Signal).

"A group of kidnappers abduct the daughter of a wealthy socialite and hide out in an abandoned school on the edge of town. But feelings of guilt soon overtake the kidnappers, dividing the group and putting their entire plan in jeopardy. The evening further spirals out of control when their poorly chosen hideout becomes a hunting ground for a mysterious creature that requires springtime ritualistic sacrifices."

Tape 407

Tape 407 opens with two teenagers flying from New York to Los Angeles on New Years Eve. Their nightmare begins when their plane hits extreme turbulence mid-flight. The relentless weather attack causes panic and terror amongst the passengers until the plane ultimately crashes in a remote government-testing area.
The handful of survivors from the crash, bloody and disoriented, are then insistently pursued in the darkness by unknown predators that, unbeknownst to them, are part of the government's top-secret Mesa Experiment. The film will take moviegoers on a whirlwind ride with a twist ending that will leave them breathless, shocked, and terrified.

Inspired by true events, HIDDEN IN THE WOODS tells the story of two sisters (Ana and Anny) who have been raised in isolation, subjected to the torment of their abusive, drug dealing father. THE INNKEEPERS ...finally a good-looking haunted house spookfest.

After over one hundred years of service, The Yankee Pedlar Inn is shutting its doors for good. The last remaining employees -Claire and Luke - are determined to uncover proof of what many believe to be one of New England's most haunted hotels. As the Inn's final days draw near, odd guests check in as the pair of minimum wage "ghost hunters" begin to experience strange and alarming events that may ultimately cause them to be mere footnotes in the hotel's long unexplained history.

(My note - looks promising as well!)


PARANORMAN ...from Laika, the same studio that did "Coraline."

A misunderstood boy who can speak with the dead, takes on ghosts, zombies and moronic grown-ups to save his town from a centuries-old curse.

Kodi Smit-McPhee voices Norman, with Casey Affleck, John Goodman, Anna Kendrick, Leslie Mann, Jeff Garlin, Elaine Stritch and Christopher Mintz-Plasse also lending their talents.

CHRONICLE ...sci-fi comedy about three friends who gain superpowers from a mysterious substance, and turn on one another when personal problems arise.

Three high school students make an incredible discovery, leading to them developing uncanny powers beyond their understanding. As they learn to control their abilities, and use them to their advantage, their lives start to spin out of control, and their darker sides begin to take over.

THE DEVIL INSIDE ...a period supernatural.

The story centers on a woman who has been led to believe her mother brutally murdered three people because she was clinically insane. After being told the murders occurred during an exorcism, she sets out to discover the truth. While documenting her experience with a film crew in Italy, she becomes involved in a series of unauthorized exorcisms.

ANGEL'S CREST ...coming to theaters December 30th, 2011.

The small working-class town of Angels Crest is a tight-knit community resting quietly in one of the vast and stunningly beautiful valleys of the Rocky Mountains. Ethan (Thomas Dekker), one of the town's residents, is a young father but not much more than a kid himself. He has no choice but to look after his three-year-old son Nate, since mom Cindy (Lynn Collins) is an alcoholic. But one snowy day, Ethan's good intentions are thwarted by a moment of thoughtlessness, resulting in tragedy. A local prosecutor (Jeremy Piven) haunted by his past goes after Ethan, and the ensuing confusion and casting of blame begins to tear the town apart.

Directed by Gaby Dellal and Based on the novel by Leslie Schwartz, ANGELS CREST also stars Elizabeth McGovern, Joseph Morgan, Mira Sorvino and Kate Walsh.

PROJECT X ...from the director of "The Hangover".

"Project X" is an out-of-control comedy that follows a group of buds who set out to throw the most epic 17th birthday party ever. The film documents a high school party that gets completely out of control, shot from the perspective of the digital cameras that the kids have with them.

(My note - This could have been a perfect slasher/monster/creature hand-held film)

Really pumped for The Innkeepers. Ti West seems to understand what makes great horror; he doesn't fall for the over-indulgence that a lot of horror filmmakers do now.

He's only made one good horror film in my opinion, that being The House Of The Devil. As for your point about over-indulgence, i felt that Cabin Fever 2 was chock full of that and it's that movie alone that causes me to be wary of him despite how good House of the Devil was. I'll still check it out though.
