Now, I don't know if the movie was based on this comic, or likewise, but I want to acknowledge how totally KICK FUCKING ASS the comic is.
Same deal as the movie, certain names have changed, as have certain character histories. Probably the best thing is you get a "LOST" style flashback of pretty much every character, MUCH more of the history and back story is explained.
Not to mention, being in comic form, the ultraviolence flows superbly.
It's better, more in depth, more psychotic and violent than the movie...I have the english translated version...it takes a while to get used to reading each page right to left, but it's well worth it.

In all honesty, I don't know how old the books is, therefore...I don't know if it's still out there anywhere.
My suggestion - if all else fails, get yourself on soulseek and download it like I did.
