What non-horror comics are you currently reading?

I thought I would start a thread on the comics that are being read currently by the posters. Lately this is what I have read (I put some info up also on whats going on in the titles Im reading)..........

Silver Surfer #4

Surfer for some odd reason that has yet to be revealed has kidnapped a girl from her single mother. Im reading this because Surfer is one of my favorite Marvel characters to always read about. I love his story. But the writer is doing what Bruce Jones is doing with the Hulk and keeping the Surfer to a very minor role. We barely see the Surfer in this in all 4 issues. The story though, is indeed a good read but I am getting impatient not seeing the guy thats name is on the book.

New X-Men #150

You might have heard about this one. The conclusion is somewhat dissapointing.

** SPOILERS **

If you've read this then you know that both Magneto and Jean die in this issue. How many times can a character die though to only be brought back? Jean and Mags both have died numerious times in the X-titles. Some questions are answered but more appear at the end. Magneto on drugs? Eh. Magneto is a smart villian. He's not a scumbag. He's a man on a mission with a dream. He's not psychotic nor is he downright evil. This story makes him out to be. I liked the XORN thing he did and I thought the writers did a good job on that part, but the conclusion is kinda of dissapointing. The next issue starts 150 years in the future (how many times do we have to have stories in the future in X-books?

* * END SPOILERS * *

Batman/Superman #4

For the Superman haters out there, you might enjoy this issue. Superman, also is one of my favorite comic characters. But him and Batman square off against Hawkman and Captain Marvel. Who wins? Well lets just say the this time, Batman didn't find a way to cheat ;) Great issue and I'm loving this series a lot.

Novel I picked up.........

X-MEN Chaos Engine Book 1

I just finished this tonight and its one of the best novels I've read with comic characters. After completing a mission in space, the X-Men (Nightcrawler, Gambit, Rogue, Jean, Cyclops, and Wolverine) come back to Earth only to learn Dr. Doom rules a very strict Earth. The Fantastic Four are dead, the Avengers are no longer heros, and the other heros in the world are either dead or have joined Doom in his rule as Empreror.

But there is one man who hates Doom: Magneto. Doom hates Erik and Erik wants to rip Von Doom's head off. For a year, Mags has hidden himself from the Doom government and Doom has not been able to catch him. The story builds up to a climax that has Magneto and Doom in an all out war between each other with the X-Men stuck in between. Its a great read and the second book looks even more promising.

I just read Happy Mania (love the title!) volume 3 by Moyoko Anno. Her stuff is pretty nuts. The main character is this guy crazy girl who just keeps screwing up. I think it's kind of like sex in the city as a manga (though i'm sure the comic came out first!)
I also like Paradise Kiss from Tokyopop as well. Lately the American stuff I've read is from Alternative Comics like Sam Henderson's stuff. Of course Love and Rockets. Also 'Love Fights' by Andi Watson.

I've totally been digging Slave Labor's stuff...but lately...it's all the same. Like, they're overdoing it on the "goth influenced" stuff...

JTHM, Squee and GloomCookie are still tops!

Yeah the "She lies with angels" had some pretty good art in it. Only thing I that bothered me was they made archangel look 10 years old lol :)

Red Star. all the communist imagery appeals to me. there are a few things I don't like about the series, but they are almost easily overlooked in favor of a decent storyline and "good art."

I've been reading The Goon & Frankenstein Mobster, both of which have horror elements but are not pure "horror" comics, so I guess they ought to count for this thread.

any of you guys ever read Preacher? That is without a doubt THE BEST comic book ever produced.

(Except for Wolverine, Spiderman, and Batman of course.)

(Oh yeah and The Punisher.)

But as far as adult comics books go, Preacher kicks ass.
