Don’t Let Him In (2011)
Though the title may sounds like a sequel to the 2010 Matt Reeves film Let Me In but this is a low budget indie Britt horror where two couples spend a weekend in the country and become potential victims of a serial killer known as The Tree Surgeon. Not bad but could have been interesting if they could punched up the suspense levels somewhat more in the middle. The ending was a disappointment also. >>: C La herencia Valdemar II: La sombra prohibida aka The Valdemar Legacy II: The Forbidden Shadow (2010) If I consider only the visuals & special effects part of the film then this is a pretty decent watch indeed but the problem is there was a clear rush in the development of the story where it seems they wanted to tell so much more in a limited time period. But the funny thing is this a sequel of The Valdemar Legacy and in that 1st part they already wasted a good amount of reel in portraying the back story of the Valdemar family which they could shown in a 5 to 10 minutes flashback rather than making a complete movie-part out of it. Anyway, the sad thing is they had a fantastic premise & a decent bunch of cast to make a great film based on Lovecraft's universe...specially when the plot elements include Necronomicon to Mythos of Cthulhu aka Outer Gods and Great Old Ones! Although the overall package may let down the original fans of the Rhode Island's great writer but I think it's worth a watch at least...the Cthulhu attack in the final segment was pretty entertaining, IMO. >>: B

Super 8. It was like a mix between E.T. and the Goonies. I really enjoyed it - the child acting was superb, and the direction was great. My only issue was that, whilst the "slow reveal" by Abrams is almost Jaws-worthy in it's suspense, the eventual "monster" is uninspired and the same thing we've been seeing for the last 5-6 years. Where are the Gigers of this generation of film making?!
