Plan 9 From Outer Space remake

September 29, 2008

Brinke Stevens, Conrad Brooks, Caitlin Hill, John Johnson, Eric Lobo, Monique Dupree and John R. Price II have all joined the cast of PLAN 9, the remake of Ed Wood's PLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE, according to IMDB and the film's official website.

In the film being directed by John Johnon, aliens resurrect dead humans as zombies and vampires to stop human kind from creating the Solaranite (a sort of sun-driven bomb).

For more info, check out the official website here :-

I stumbled across this on IMDB yesterday when I was writing my Ed Wood blurb.

...I think I started to vomit a little bit.

If this Johnson dude has so much respect for Eddie's work, why can't he just leave it the fuck alone?

Worst film ever made? Golden Turkey of all-time?

No more, Mr. Wood. You are going to have stiff competition now.

I mentioned this some time ago in some thread. He's making it as a "serious" movie. I told him over on horrorfind.com it's really the worst idea ever.

And it is.

It's simply a no-budget filmmaker operating with the same cynical greediness as the major studios when they decide to capitalize on the name recognition of a film.

Indeed.

There have been plenty of movies way worse than plan 9 made since, but they dont get the recognition for a few simple reasons: they are the result of sloppy, lazy, half-assed work.

Ed Wood's work was inspired; they were works of passion and love. He just happened to be talentless and inept, but he truly loved what he did. A modern day example is William Hung; he was terrible, but you had to admire the little scamp, he loved what he did, and no one, not even Simon Cowell could bring him down.

Are you kidding?

You're kidding, right?

No, seriously, you aren't serious, are you?

No. Nope. Nothing. Somebody saw a chance to either make some money, or secure some fame. That is all that is required. Literally, NOTHING is sacred.

remaking films that were based on nothing, and famous only for how bad they are - wow a new trend.

i have no problem with remaking a film that you thought you could update r improve on - but this one gives pointless a new meaning
