Hazmat 2013
I watched this film for the first time last night, thought it was so good it deserved it's own thread.
Hazmat tells the story of a group of friends who play a prank on a mate(who is a tad bizarre and creepy for everyone's taste) with tragically deadly consequences, when said mate discovers he is the butt of a joke. What separates it from other low budget slasher flicks is its effective use of dread and suspense over gore and random killings; atmosphere in an unsettling and claustrophobic environment; and quality acting on the cast's part. In particular the "villian/monster," Hazmat, who is made somewhat sympathetic at the films beginning up to the point when he snaps. This is the sort of movie I would show to a buddy who trashes no budget horror films to show sometimes they are entertaining and not mindless death counts. |
