Frontière(s)

Engaging enough storyline. Although I found the inclusion of Nazis to be a bit clichéd. There were also far too many plot holes to really take the movie too seriously. I seem to remember people putting Frontière(s) in the same category as Martyrs or À l'intérieur, but I really didn't see that at all. It's somewhat brutal, but nowhere near as much as Martyrs or À l'intérieur. It was an alright watch, but it just seemed a bit weak overall given the atmosphere they were trying to go for.

Splice- I'm really surprise I haven't seen anyone post about this yet. Such big names attached, I figured everyone on here would have gone to see it opening night or something. See recommended movies thread for more.

The Best Man
Henry Fonda & Cliff Robertson battle it out as political candidates roughly based on Adlai Stevenson and Nixon. As absolutely relevant today as it was back when it was made.

Death Sentence
Interesting. Keven Bacon is great. Sidesteps all the moral issues inherant in the plot.

Perfect Creature (2006). This relatively low-budget affair hits many high notes in style and application. First off, the atmosphere that is created is simply wonderful; it simply blends many differing eras to create the perfect backdrop for this story to unfold. Bleak and drained of life, full advantage is taken of the setting to create a world where the unlikely is most believable. The acting is strong enough, with some pretty great performances here and there. The story itself threatens to turn Hollywood weak, but never really does as such. Instead, it blends sci-fi and horror into a dilapidated tapestry of a plagued-ridden world of suffering. The direction is competent, and the camera work and computer-generated imagery captures an era best left unearthed. Overall, this can almost be seen as a transcendental B-movie on the bounce. Ashe.

Are you a fan of the new wave of french horror cinema?

Do you love your horror tales with a generous dose of splatstick (yes that's a word I invented...I hope) humor and plenty of gore?

Do you want to see a riveting tale of cops and robbers take a frighteningly gorific turn?

If the answer is yes to all of the above, watch it asap. Then come back and rave about it to everyone else. Highly recommended.

Chrono, NE, Fort, Jenna, Psycho, Return, Alky, Newb, Zwoti, Rayne...everyone else reading this, hunt this movie down and blind buy it wherever you find it. Trust me, you won't be sorry.

Don't think the dvd is out yet. Find it at a Film Festival or theater near you.

I think this one will come under the Dimension Extreme label soon, ala Inside.

George Romero's Survival of the Dead

It was okay. It almost seemed like the zombies were an afterthought, a prop used to tell the story of two feuding families.

This movie has me really interested. I don't go to the theater anymore to see horror films, been let down too many times for the money spent. I'm exclusive to NetFlix...at least if it sucks, I'm not out $30.

But, I really want to see this one. It's in my queue.
