She couldn't make out the old womans face and you kept expecting her to come into focus as she got closer and closer. I think it was a good way to introduce the idea and it was both creepy and suspenseful.

I dont know how hard you are on subgenres and such stuff, but I'd still like to say Battle Royale.

Still Ringu, but I have a softspot for Shohuns Sadism although its more of an exploitation movie I guess ...
