Halloween

For the Halloween season i decided to watch all the Halloween movies (excluding Resurrection and H2) over the course of a few days. Obviously i started with the first one and it is of course the best. One of my favorite horror movies of all time. Next up, Halloween 2.

Not as crazy about this Amicus film, but it still has some great scenes.

A Blade In The Dark (1983) Directed by Lamberto Bava (Macabre, Demons) son of Mario. This was an ok typical Italian horror of its time. If like me you've seen a fair amount of giallos you will find this fairly predictable. Not awful but not essential either.

Trespass (2011)

Though it's not a remake, but the premise & the set up has some similarities with the recent Spanish film Secuestrados aka Kidnapped, which is a far better home invasion thriller than this one big mess. You won't like to give a damn about the characters or care about what happens to them at the end; even Cage & Kidman couldn't able to contribute anything other than their face value.
Skip this one, watch the Spanish one that I already mentioned...where you'll find a shocking ending at least.

The bathroom scene in that flick is the highlight for me. Great stuff.

The Thing (2011)
I actually liked it more than I thought I would.
While Carpenters 80's effort still remains my favourite (despite the effects showing their age), this one had like the first one, genuine suspense.
The characters, hit and miss. Yes, I could pick at a few issues but overall I can't complain - I feel as though enough respect was paid to Carpenters work, to go hand in hand with it.
The effects are pretty insane, it was great to see more of the creature in different forms.
It actually makes a pretty decent companion to the original, and I'll be grabbing the BluRay when it's out.
