after i'd seen my 6th or 7th asian film with the same theme i figured it must be based on some kind of cultural phenomenon

I guess when you put it that way, 6 or 7 don't sound too bad compared to the hundreds of vampire movies out there.

or zombie

At least the creepy long haired ghost chick still kinda freaks me out.
