The Innkeepers (2012)

I have to say that I really enjoyed this one. I think there was actually a lot going on with and between the characters, and it really kept me engaged the whole time. I think this film really shows how much we've come to be conditioned to expect scary set-pieces and jump scenes, but it doesn't have to be like that. It can simply examine the state of being stuck in a rut, working a dead-end job, and the need to grasp on to something to get out of it. I thought West did that in a really interesting and compelling way, and so it didn't bother me that he used a cliche horror template to do it. He's really doing interesting things with the genre, and I'll continue to look forward to his output.

I agree with your sentiments for the most part fortunato. I thought it was a brilliant film up until the ending which just didn't gel with me.

Forbidden Planet.

Very impressive effects for the day. Leslie Nielsen is good as the square-jawed captain which he would later play completely for parody over and over and Anne Francis is just beautiful.

Harold & Kumar 3 (or Christmas or whatever)
I liked seeing the characters again, though how much of an asshole Harold had turned into was a bit annoying, all the fun of his character was drained and most of the movie felt like you were putting up with him.
There were a few scoffs but really I just didn't find this one all that funny...the storyline was pretty standard fare for something that's been given the Christmas treatment, but where the first two had some weird tripped out scenes, this one was honestly like watching a kids film with swearing.
Aside from what I'm sure was meant to be the hilarity of getting a baby high, and the obvious dick scene, this was as though they'd made an attempt to make a much more "family friendly" film, which is fine and all, but really - wrong franchise.
I'd say this would have killed the franchise.

Just got back from "Safehouse".
I liked it for the better part.
An OK plot, though nothing we haven't seen before.
The dialogue was good, Denzel was solid as always, Reynolds was pretty bland (if only he could channel the intensity his character had in "Smokin Aces" more often).
The action and driving scenes were well done, and the fights seemed quite realistic and painful.
The overall plot, while I don't have an issue with it, tried a bit too hard to be convoluted so as to throw you off.
Like, it's a good movie...just not one I'd anticipate my next viewing of.

Yeah, I mean it definitely wasn't perfect. A bit cliche, but up against the rest of the film it didn't bother me.
I thought the performances were really solid, too.

Don't get your hopes up. S Darko is terrible and has none of the brilliance that the first one has.
