Jennifer's Body. Shallow. Disappointing. Not even all that sexy.

Haeckel's Tale (again)

So romantic! I love the graveyard scene. They just don't do enough good zombie porn.

The Echo

What an absolute surprise gem! I had seen the movie cover a few times, but didn't actually get around to watching it until read about it in last months Rue Morgue magazine and they gave it a pretty good review. A remake of the Philippine Sigaw, I thought that it captured a genuinely creepy and a feeling of pure dread. I thought that this was honestly a good, scary movie. It's definitely atmospheric and the direction is incredible - Slow, elaborate, very Hitchcockian - It's clear that the Writer/Director didn't just want to roll out another remake; this move was done artfully.

Great creepy little horror movie and definitely one of the best of 2008. I HIGHLY recommend it... And now I need to see the original.

4/5.

Eagle V's Shark

A pretty funny kiwi flick with Jemaine Clement from flight of the choncords. Well worth watching if you like his work.

7/10

Office Killer

This was a bit slow to start, but then it got a bit darker and held some charm....

6.5/10

The Lost

This was an odd flick, I don't know anything about the true story, but Marc Senter was pretty good in the lead. His character reminded me a lot of Cripin Glovers "Lane" from "Rivers Edge". I thought it was a bit soft for a serial killer flick but then the last 30 minutes where absolutley brutal.

7/10

Deep Red (1975). Dario Argento's trademark style is illustrated in full effect in this stupendous little flick. The visual are wonderful, but that playfully wandering camera and those extraordinary camera angles were magnificent. The set-pieces deserve more than a mention for the wonderful imagery that they portray. Even though this story is almost coherent and some of the actors can act, everything still gets ensconced in the incredible tapestry that is Argento. Mercie beaucoup.

The 'Burbs- Imperfect but still highley underrated black comedy. Could've been better and there was alot more scope to develop things, but there is still alot of quality humor and intelligance running through this film.
