McG is apparently still confident he'll get to make Terminator 5 and 6, despite the question marks hanging over the future of the sci-fi series.
On Friday we heard that the Terminator series will be up for grabs in February 2010, when Halcyon will sell the rights to the highest studio bidder. This hasn't stopped McG from confidently predicting that he will get to complete his trilogy of Terminator films, however, that begun with Salvation this summer. Despite generally being mauled by critics, Terminator Salvation ended up pulling in a respectable $370m at the worldwide box office. During the live commentary for the movie over the weekend (that was available to those how had bought the film on Blu-ray) he said that -- no matter which studio inherits the series -- he is still set to direct the two sequels. They don't report much detail, but do reveal that he would consider bringing in the T-1000 (the "liquid metal" Terminator played by Robert Patrick in Terminator 2: Judgement Day) for a sequel. Has McG already been promised that he'll get to complete his trilogy? Or is his proclamation just classic McG bluster? We'll have to wait until February to find out.
