Help me get back into books please

I have read lots of books over the years but my trouble is sticking at it.

Once i start i finish the book but i may not pick up another for months even years.Sometimes i read three or four books then stop, and after a long time pick up another.I cannot keep the fluidity of reading going.

I am a slow reader,i read every word and syllable so takes me a long time to get to the end,i don't like speed reading. If the author spends a long time to write then it is only fair i give them the same whilst reading.

Of course it has to be horror but i don't want over long books like King for example, and nothing too intellectual like Barker.Although i love both their movies but don't want to get involved in the books as i doubt i could make the course.

I love Shaun Hutson, simple stories with plenty gore to satisfy my bloodlust, and i have also read lots of James Herbert in the past, but what can you guys recommend. As i said i don't want long stories but one that can chill me to the bone and fulfil the gore content would be nice.

Prodigal Blues by Gary Braunbeck.

It is incredible. Its 272 pages. It will chill you and fulfill your desire for gore. I HIGHLY suggest not reading the summary given for the book wherever you check it out. I realize it might be suggesting a lot to buy a book without knowing something about it, but the summary ruins one part of the book that is the main shock of the book. I reiterate the book is incredible.

The Woods Are Dark by Richard Laymon, 274 pages.

Gore, not sure how chilling it is. Its been a while since I read it.

Splatter-Punks: The Definitive Anthology (Short stories.)

Hogg by Samuel Delany, 288 pages.

I haven't read it, but its supposed to be incredibly gory. Like stomach turning.
