The Monster Club (1981)

Vincent Price, John Carradine, Donald Pleasence, Britt Ekland, Patrick Magee and a host of other British Actors. Couldn't really remember much about this one. I picked it up on Blu-Ray the other day for $8. I figured it would be a good film to watch on Halloween. Definitely goofy and kooky, but not without charm.

^Despite the great cast, I think that is the weakest of Amicus' anthology series. The framing device is just embarrassing.

Yesterday I watched:

The Fog
The Satanic Rites of Dracula
An Episode of BEASTS (the Nigel Kneale Series) - Baby
The Last Treehouse of Horror
Trick R Treat

I was surprised how must i enjoyed re-watching the Hammer film - I forgot how much James Bond tropes they ripped off for it. The opening for the Simpsons by Del Toro was excellent. Beasts wasn't as scarey as I thought as a kid (of course) but TP McKenna was great in that episode.

Just got done watching The Shining, and one scene made me sit back and think 'Well now...', it's the scene where he's chopping through the door, going "Here's Johnny!", and reaches through the gap to unlock the door, and she slashes him with the knife! I was like "Holy crap, someone actually defended herself! Most horror movie victims (survivors or no) usually tear off screaming in random directions, so it was mildly sutprising, overall I really enjoyed the movie.

Starting on The Covenant now, but based on what I heard it seems more like a thriller than a horror film, next in the queue is Queen of the Damned, bear in mind this is my set DVD pickups from this week, the majority of what I've been suggested isn't available on Netflix.

Writing an essay on the New Hollywood era and High Concept cinema. Went for one of my guilty pleasures of the 80s.

Saw "Chopping Mall" for the first time a couple of days ago.
Bit of a misleading poster hm?

It was ok. I mean I've seen better killer Robot/Security system movies.
Watchable for a lazy day. Glad I've finally seen it, since I've been wondering about it for years.

Maximum Overdrive, yes, I know it's not a good movie, even King acknowledged this, but I hadn't seen it since I was a pre-teen, and you just cannot deny the epicness of firing a LAW rocket at a truck and turning it into a meteor-like storm of flaming TP, :p

I love Maximum Overdrive as well. Emilio Estevez , Lisa Simpson, Semi's killing people to the sounds of AC/DC. What's not to love?

I watched "The World's End" last night. I loved it!
