These are supposed to have 2 movies on one side and two on the other, rather than spreading them from side to side. I was impressed at the picture quality with over 2 hours on each side of the disc, so I am guessing it is when the varied bitrate really jumps around. For me it has only been a momentary pause every few minutes in a small section, but some of the complaints have been the same spot over and over every 20 seconds or so, that would be maddening.

My other dual sided stuff plays fine, but most of it doesn;t look as good, so it is a give and take sort of thing.

That does sound annoying. Hopefully, you can get the discs replaced?

I bought this collection "series" last week... paying 19.99 at Best buys for it. If you like Hammer films, it's a must have. I did notice a few annoying 1-2 second pauses every now and then, but it's still worth it.

I'm so pissed off about mine:mad:
I watched "Curse of the Werewolf" and "Brides of Dracula" and they played perfectly.
Then I tried to watch "The Evil of Frankenstein" and it froze and skipped like crazy, making it unwatchable.
I sent it back to Deep Discount DVD for a replacement.
What sucks is that I am going to have to watch all 9 films to make sure they all work.

Who has the time:confused:

Yeah, you should get to watch the films when you want to, not be forced to view them immediately just to make sure the disc works right.

I'd been lucky enough to see BRIDES OF DRACULA and CURSE OF THE WEREWOLF in a theatre last year (I'm sure new prints were available because they'd been prepared for the DVD release), so it's not as if I felt the need to watch them immediately when I got the box set. But I felt I had to, because I didn't want to find out a year later that something's wrong with the disc.

Anyway, I seem to be one of the lucky ones -- all the films in my box set played perfectly.

Wish I could say the same about the Land of the Dead DVD.

A box set of dracula would be the ultimate treat and everything else can follow on other box sets.

I think the problem with doing a Hammer Dracula box set (in the U.S., that is) is that the film's were handled by different distributors on this side of the Atlantic. So no single entity could put out all the titles, because no one owns the rights to all of them.
