Unhappy Oh shit...What does everyone think of...

Friday the 13th: Part 8?

What do you think of this movie? Being a fan of the whole series, I personally think it's underrated. People on the internet and those I know personally bitterly hate this film. So I expect people to say it sucks, but what's your take?

I especially welcome intelligent views on positive points in Jason Takes Manhattan, but if you want to just say it sucks, that's okay too.

Before I end this post, I just want to say I am VERY SORRY FOR LIKING THIS MOVIE.

I haven't seen it. I stopped watching them after the fourth movie and I realized that Jason was never going to die. I love a good slasher, but Jesus, even Jigsaw (maybe the top slasher to date) had cancer. As for being sorry for watching it...don't be if you truly like it. Now, if you like beastiality porn...be ashamed, be very ashamed.

I think pretty much the same I thought about most of the F13 sequels...
It wasn't the first one, it wasn't JGTH...it was just another one of the in-betweens that were all largely the same in terms of quality. "Ok" if you're into this kinda shit, but nothing great.
The first one was IMO better than most of them, seemed gorier and scarier, with some great kills, the second one was kind've alright but not as good...made a suitable sequel though - guy getting revenge for his mother...etc...the rest just didn't do anything for me. The kinds of film you can more or less FFWD through just to see the kills, the rest is just pointless bore.
JGTH I liked...don't know if it was because they took the Jason folklore in a different direction, or the characters were (slightly) more fleshed out with an actual history and storyline, the fact that one of the people heavily involved in the first, and only the first one prior to this was at the helm again, or a combination of all of them, but either way, I liked it more.
Jason x may as well be thrown in with the rest of the others.

Starting last Friday 13th, I ran through the whole F13 boxset over the course of a week or so. It was my first time viewing all of them except for the first two. (Still havent seen JGTH or Jason X, but they're on the desk beside me)

Anyway, I really enjoyed #8. Best sequel since #3, IMHO. It didnt go overboard with the comedy like in #6, and the plot was alot more fun than the dreck that was #7. It was sort of a happy medium; It knew what it was and didnt try to be anything else, and turned out to be a really fun slasher. Sure it was a little farfetched, but does anyone watch these flicks for realism? I sure hope not...

This film had lots of potential, but the director wasn't allowed to do what he wanted with it. The majority of the film was supposed to take place in NY, but budget factors, etc. caused rewrites and most of the film ended up taking place on the boat.

In my opinion, if a remake ever occurs, instead of remaking the original, they should go back to the original script of part 8 and do it how it was supposed to be done.

part 8 wasnt bad, but wasn't great either. Its better than the Friday movies that came after it, but as far as the ones that preceded it, I would say its only better than 5 and 7.

Before you hilariously went back and edited your post, you said to say what you like.

Damagingly, the original uncut post is quoted a couple of times.
