Really...I said that? cause there's no "super-tech or supernatural elements" in this psychological thriller!
During her last trimester of pregnancy, Esther loses her unborn child after a brutal attack by "an unknown person" (as the attacker was in a hoodie)! Esther seems to have no friends or family & then in a support group meetings, she meets and befriends with another woman Melanie, who tells her husband and child were killed by a drunk driver. And from that point the journey of this 2 characters & turn of events takes quite an unpredictable path or nature that would make you start to wonder who's actually sane in this story & where & how would their actions eventually will lead them to an uncertain end?? I liked it so much for its unpredictable characters & turn of events. Though kinda slow burn but Proxy is quite different & interesting film. Recommended.

Ok so im new to this forum, I thought I would post my top horror films of the year first. But I must say I believe 2014 was not a good year for horror even though it brought a lot less remakes than last.

TOP 5

1. The Purge Anarchy
2. What we Do in the shadows (not exactly a horror but it was hard trying to find a top 5!)
3. VHS Viral
4. Jessabelle
5. 13 sins

WORST 5

1. ABC's Of death 2
2. 7500
3. Devils due
4. Ouija
5. Alien Abduction

My favorite horror movies of this year have to be The Babadook and As Above/So Below, my favorite general movies Gone Girl, Godzilla and Maleficent....was not too often in the cinema though.

Nobody can get me to like The Hobbit though. For me the complete trilogy is a complete letdown...

Oh ya, that's it. And then they clone the baby and it starts killing people, right?

Hey Roshiq, did you see Journey to the West: Conquering the Demons yet?

Not yet but added in my watchlist with What We Do in the Shadows & The Raid 2!!

Quiet Earth gave a very fine list there, I guess as I haven't seen most of them yet!

Those are some good ones, and ones I haven't seen. I'm really looking forward to seeing Jodorowsky's Dune.

Best Non-Horror movies:

Haven't seen much actually, here's few I liked:

Captain America: The Winter Soldier
X-Men: Days of Future Past
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes
Snowpiercer
Predestination
Enemy
The Double
Godzilla

Haven't seen Guardians of the Galaxy yet!

Good list! You've been busy.

I agree with your definition of "2014 movies." Most of the top N horror lists floating around the internet define it the same way. Especially since almost all the best films this year are indies, and not widely available in theaters on first release (or in theaters at all).

I have a few yet to watch before I post my list. I'll probably do that in a few days.

I guess you didn't like Among the Living. I actually liked it -- about as much as Livide -- but agree it ain't no Inside.
