Stuart Gordon confirmed - Madison Horror Film Festival

Madison Horror is proud to announce that instead of Lloyd Kaufman as the headlining guest at this year’s Madison Horror Film Festival, we will instead be welcoming Stuart Gordon. Stuart will be appearing both Saturday October 3rd and Sunday October 4th. Over the two day festival we will be screening both Re-Animator and Dagon along with Q&A sessions.
A native of Chicago, Gordon grew up with a passion for art that led him to enroll in the Lane Technical High School as an art major. After graduation, he spent six months working as a commercial artist before enrolling at the University of Wisconsin at Madison. There, he became interested in theater and, though he started out on stage in a production of Marat/Sade, Gordon's interests led him behind the curtain where he wrote, directed, and produced plays.

With the release of his two best known films, Re-Animator (1985) and From Beyond (1986), both of which are blood-soaked low-budget extravaganzas based on the work of horror writer H.P. Lovecraft, filmmaker Stuart Gordon gained a cult following as one of his generation's most creative horror directors. Though aficionados can appreciate his facility and willingness to use plenty of gut-wrenchingly gory special effects, it is the perverse humorous twists that he adds to his tales that have made him a favorite among connoisseurs.
In addition to Stuart Gordon we will be welcoming Wisconsin Native Bill Rebane and presenting him with a lifetime achievement award. Fangoria radio host and horror actor Debbie Rochon will be on hand for a screening of her new film Colour from the Dark. We will also be having horror actresses Elske McCain and Scarlet Salem. Debbie, Elske and Scarlet will be leading the Women in Horror portion of the festival.
We will be kicking off the festival Friday October 2nd with a special premeire of the local horror film Incest Death Squad. The festival and IDS premiere will both be held at the Market Square Cinema located at 6604 Odana road in Madison, WI. Ticket information for the IDS premiere and festival is available at www.madisonhorror.com .
All festival scheduling information including the feature screenings and selected independent films will be available soon at www.madisonhorror.com .
