Fawlty Towers and The Young Ones

My all-time favorite British comedies. My favorite episodes:

Young Ones

Bambi
Bomb
Flood
Sick
Summer Holiday

Fawlty Towers

The Germans (DON'T MENTION THE WAR!!)
Basil The Rat
The Kipper And The Corpse
Hotel Inspectors
The Psychiatrist

What are your greatest memories from these shows?

I've always liked the episode with Motorhead

The episode in Fawlty Towers with the deaf woman is classic.

Bottom was a great show too.

The Motorhead episode was Bambi, when they went on University Challenge.

Communication Problems was the Fawlty Towers episode ("Is this a piece of your brain?")

I think I might have 'Bottom' on my Young Ones DVD set; I'll have to watch that sometime.

The Germans is one of the funniest episodes of any show, ever.

'There is no fire, its only bell!', brilliant stuff!

I think I preferred Bottom to the Young Ones although I always remember Neil growing a version of himself in the dung heap.

Didnt they do another show, Filthy Rich and Catflap? Never seen it myself but I have wondered whether its any good.

That Young Ones episode was called 'Sick' ("Oh Neil, Neil, orange peel!!")

I think I have Filthy Rich and Catflap on my Young Ones DVD set as well; I'll have to watch that sometime too.

I always enjoyed seeing Manuel getting slapped around in Fawlty Towers. The episode with the food critic is my all time favorite. Poor Basil's attempt to get a simple fried chicken back to the hotel just keeps getting worse & worse... resulting in the expected heart attack inducing frustration.

This show can reduce me to tears from laughing so hard.

I feel the same way. There were only 12 episodes, but every one of them was a classic!

I agree with the poster who said The Germans could easily be the greatest TV episode of all time. Everything from the disastrous fire drill, the continuous mentioning of The War in front of the Germans, and the moose head ("I can speak English. I learn it from a book.")
