Creepy. This film was directed by the guy who did The Blackcoats Daughter. This director knows atmosphere.

*Edit

Oz Perkins, the director, son of Norman Bates. :)
Just watched this as well. Aesthetically I thought it was amazing, wanted more plotwise though. Pretty standard ghost story..well shot and performed, but ultimately kind of predictable / anticlimactic.

Still a cool movie though. Very understated. Plus it's nice to see Netflix's "original content" branching out into horror fare - hopefully a sign of more to come.

HOLIDAYS 2016

A collection of torturous holiday short stories. Easter freaked me right out. Pretty enjoyable.

The Grudge -

I know I never saw this movie completely before. I remember so many bits from it though. Perhaps catching parts on TV, cable, and the trailer in the past. I know I saw the original some time ago, which I like. Many parts of the remake seem directly lifted from the original and some of the casting as well. This might be one of those remakes that was made for US audiences because they couldn't be bothered with reading subtitles. Overall it's ok. Only a few notable scenes in the elevator and bus. And worth a watch for Buffy. I'll watch the original again when I get a chance. I bet it comes off as the superior version.

omg! The Return of The_Return!! How are you doing, man? Great to see you back. Hope everything's going great for you.

Haven't seen this yet and yeah...it didn't get much attention so far from the genre fans but after HDC's multiple recommendations definitely looking forward to check this out. Btw, have you seen Autopsy of Jane Doe? One of the year's best, IMO!

Mommy (2014)
I.M.D.B.
A widowed single mother, raising her violent son alone, finds new hope when a mysterious neighbor inserts herself into their household.

A good film. Well made, great performances and dialogue, impacting and emotional. The only thing I didn't like was the artistic play with the aspect ratio.
8.5/10

I actually like the remake more for some reason. I also had watched the original before watching the remake.

The thing I liked best about the remake was not having to read subtitles so I could stare at Sarah Michelle Gellar's face. Which I think was the best thing that came out of both films.
