Chucky box set w/o the FIRST one???

Okay, I'm sure some of you have seen this, as I was talking about the Phantasm thread this popped into my head...

You've seen the box set of Chucky with the only problem that is it doesn't have the first Child's Play!! Wtf??

Who does that? Who makes a box set including Child's Play 2, Child's Play 3, Bride of Chucky and Seed of Chucky??? But not the first one!??!?

Pisses me right off....

Anyone else agree with my gripe?? I most certainly hope so...

Don't really care enough to actually do the research, but I'm pretty sure a different company owns the rights to the rest of the series....I know MGM has the first one, but I think someone else own 2 through Seed.

Hence why the original isn't included, as long as I'm right.

Yeah it totally sucks that it doesn't include the first one, but I bought it anyway. PSYCHO box set does the same thing, has 2-4 but not 1.I guess they couldn't get the rights? It just makes no sense at all to do this.

It makes perfect sense. One company owns one film, another owns the rest. And I doubt MGM is just going to toss Universal the rights to the most successful film in the series.

Coca-cola wouldn't give Pepsi the rights to Sprite...

It makes total sense. It's the same reason there's not a Halloween boxed set at all in the US. Different companies own the distribution rights to all the films.

Just buy the box set & buy the first film seperately. What's the problem?

You can get the full series in the R4 box set:
http://www.ezydvd.com.au/item.zml/781315

It's out of print but you should be able to track it down second hand for not to much $$$

the first one is the only one worth watching IMO.

I dig 'em all. The second and third movie haven't aged to well but Bride and Seed are brilliant IMO lotsa fun.

Speaking of Psycho... Why the heck is it so hard to find to buy online. Amazon of all places only carries the remake.
