British Goth in the early eighties
I was born in 1969 so I was just a tad to young to go to The Batcave in its early days (Or though I did visit the sadly watered down version later).
BUT!! I soon latched onto so many of those bands, dyed my hair black and started wearing leather and bangles. I am convinced this was a direct result of my love of Hammer Horror films that I watched as a child in the 70's. So many of those bands still mean so much to as a 53 year old. Alien Sex Fiend (Pure Theatre) Bauhaus(Godfathers of Goth?) Siouxsie And The Banshees (Just listen to Ju Ju) March Violets (Perfection) The Sisters Of Mercy (Hilarious to those of us that got it) Sex Gang Children (A far better version of Adam And The Ants) The Cure (Pornography is possibly the darkest album ever written) UK Decay (You need to hear this band) Flesh For Lulu (Always more of a straight forward rock band...but by crikey they had their Moments..check out 'Death Shall Come' Too many more too mention and not enough space. What were your favourite Goth bands? |

I also like the Southern Death Cult, before they reverted to just "the Cult," their debut album is great. Red Lorry, Yellow Lorry Xmal Deutschland 45 Grave Lords of the New Church The Damned (Goth phase and beyond) Clan of Xymox Paralisis Permanente The Danse Society Skeletal Family Tones on Tail (if you like Bauhaus, you'll like these) And many more... 🍻 |
