Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. 06/10

Nice entertainer. Cinematography and costumes are excellent. DeNiro looks a tad out of place, otherwise delivers a sound performance. Good direction, nice script. Could have been better, but nevertheless a decent watch IMO.

Oh yeah, it's interesting stuff. For as elegant and kind-hearted as Joan Crawford always looked on screen, she was a cold-hearted bitch off of it. Her daughter came out after she died and said she was the most abusive, horrible person you could imagine, and that Joan used to beat the shit out of her.

If you want an awesome, awesome Joan Crawford flick, check out Mildred Pierce.

Mommie Dearest was an interesting tale but you really have to wonder how much of the stuff said by these children of the stars is true. Like Bing's kids Christine waited to come out until her mom was gone and couldn't defend herself against the accusations. I think Mildred Pierce is Joan's most acclaimed piece, a real high point in her career.

Stranger than Fiction

Well, I once said that I didn't think Will Ferrell was funny enough to carry a movie to great heights all on his own (Bewitched, Talladega Nights) and that he was best used in smaller-mid sized roles (Austin Powers, Old School), but I now stand corrected. All he ever needed was a decent writer and he can carry a film on his own just fine. Stranger than Fiction was much less "in your face funny" and it seemed to work out better all around. Refreshingly original and clever plot, great acting and directing. It's funny when it should be, but also gets serious when neccesary. All around a really, really solid, enjoyable film. Probably Will Ferrell's best work. Not neccesarily his funniest, but almost definately his best.

About once a month, I gather with a group of friends and watch really bad horror and sci-fi movies. think "Mystery Science Theater 3000" live in your living room.
Here's Feb's movies:

"Night Of The Lepus" (giant killer bunnies!)
"Star Crash" (bad "Star Wars" rip off, but Caroline Munro was soo hot)
"Dracula's Dog" (the title say's it all)
