Remake of "Terror Train" coming soon

Thora Birch (American Beauty, Dark Corners) will play the lead role in Terror Train, in which a team of US catch wrestlers find themselves caught up in a nightmarish train ride in Eastern Europe.

It is a remake of a 1970s horror movie.

Many Bulgarian actors will be playing in the film, directed by Gideon Raff. Terror Train wraps production August 11 in Bulgaria.

Birch plays the same character as Jamie Lee Curtis in the original, which helped kick start the slasher genre.

SK's "The Long Walk" coming to the big screen

During an interview to promote Dimension Films' upcoming Stephen King adaptation, The Mist, director Frank Darabont revealed that he is in fact going to helm Stephen King's The Long Walk once he has completed Fahrenheit 451.

The film is about a walk where the winner gets the ultimate prize - anything they want for life, and the losers get punished with death! The rules are simple - If you walk too slow, you get a warning, 4 warnings and you are shot. There is only one winner, and the story concentrates on a loosely held group of individuals that become friends and enemies during this inhumane walk. One by one Ray Garraty sees the people around him die, and he faces the truths of his own entry into the Long Walk, and those of his new "friends". He is aware that only one will survive all the way, but it is not until the end that he realised the finality of his situation, and he slowly looses his sanity piece by piece.

Domestic teaser poster for "Saw IV" also released

Remake of "April Fool's Day" in the works

It was learnt recently that Scout Taylor-Compton will be playing the lead role in the Butcher Brothers remake of April Fool's Day, which she calls "Mean Girls crossed with horror." Scout also says that the plan is to make the film rated R.

She can be seen in Rob Zombie's remake of Halloween on August 31 from Dimension Films.

In the original a group of eight college friends gather together at an island mansion belonging to heiress Muffy St. John to celebrate their final year of school. They soon discover that each has a hidden secret from their past which is revealed, and soon after, they turn up dead.
Yet, are they really dead?
Or is it just part of some very real and cruel April Fool's jokes?
The hostess, Muffy, is the only one who apparently knows what's going on.
But then again, is it really her doing the killing?

Clive Barker reveals info about Midnight Meat Train and Hellraiser remake

In an exclusive one-on-one interview with bloody-disgusting.com, horror legend Clive Barker revealed some brand new info on his remake of Hellraiser, along with a few notes on his upcoming Midnight Meat Train from Lionsgate Films.

Clive Barker talked a bit about why he did MIDNIGHT MEAT TRAIN next, “I have been developing a lot and never know what’s going to come first.“ Then replying to a joke about how no Asian director has proven themselves yet in the horror genre, so why take chance with Ryuhei Kitamura? Clive joked back, “He’s very very good, did you see that trailer?!”

But what is the status of his HELLRAISER remake?

Clive fills in, "I recently turned in a 45-page treatment. They [Dimension] wanted a remake and I couldn’t do that," he continues, "I wrote the narrative so that it has eloquence, I wanted to take what we learned from first movie about Pinhead and pour it into this mold… there’s a great story in there." He also talked a bit about how different this will be from the original, "It’s a horror and a drama, but its bloodier - but most horror movies are bloodier than they were back then."

Zack Snyder bringing "Army Of The Dead"

Zack Snyder (Dawn of the Dead, 300) took a couple seconds out of his busy night to chat about Army of the Dead, his next zombie feature, with bloody-disgusting.com.

He tells that what will separate this film from any other zombie film is it's scope... "it will be massive!" He really drove home the point that we have never seen anything of this scale in our horror lives.

He also proclaimed his love for the genre and said he'll be sticking around for quite some time.

Set in a quarantined Las Vegas in the not-too-distant future, "Army" revolves around a father who tries to save his daughter from imminent death in a zombie-infested world.

Jessica Alba goes into detail about "The Eye" remake

Over at Comic Con, Jessica Alba chatted briefly about her upcoming role in THE EYE, which hits theaters February 1, 2008.

She talked a little bit about the French directors (David Moreau and Xavier Palud) and how this film differs from their first feature film, THEM, which is slated for theatrical release this August.

"The French directors are amazing, it's really going to take the horror genre to another level" she tells, "THE EYE has lots of blood, lots of gore, insanity, ghosts and its painful because you're going through the entire experience with this girl... you feel her anxiety from beginning to end." She elaborates, "The film is put in first person perspective to really feel the anxiety and what the characters feel. Ours (The Eye) is a lot more subtle and psychological."

Is the infamous elevator scene of the original, in THE EYE remake? Alba answers with a sly smile “You’ll have to see it."

In THE EYE Alba plays Sydney, a young, blind violinist is given the chance to see for the first time since childhood through a miraculous corneal transplant. As Sydney adjusts to a dizzying new world of colors and shapes, she is haunted by frightening visions of death itself capturing the doomed and dragging them away from the world of the living. Terrorized and on the brink of insanity, Sydney must discover whose eyes she has inherited, and what secret visions they have held.

Jason Statham, Tyrese Gibson, Joan Allen line up in "Deathrace 3000"

Director Paul W.S. Anderson revealed that the 28-year-old Transformers and 2 Fast 2 Furious star Tyrese Gibson is set to take to the road once more — this time behind the wheel — as a contestant in his Death Race 3000, an update of the 1975 classic starring David Carradine and Sylvester Stallone.

Tyrese joins previously confirmed cast member Jason Statham — two tough dudes about to get their clock cleaned by the most unlikely of opponents, Anderson announced…Joan Allen.

“She kicks the most ass out of everybody,” Anderson smiled, revealing for the first time that the three-time Oscar nominee will join the cast as well.

The film, a “faithful remake,” said Anderson, follows a group of contestants on a cross-country race who score points for running down pedestrians.

It is set for release in 2008.

Paris singing in Darren Lynn Bousman's "Repo!"

After spending most of the year living a soap opera, Paris Hilton(YUCK!) (House of Wax) will be part of a real opera this fall. Hilton has joined Alexa Vega and Paul Sorvino in the cast of Repo! The Genetic Opera, a full-blown musical thriller co-financed by "Saw" makers Twisted Pictures and Lionsgate.

Darren Lynn Bousman, director of three "Saw" films, including the fourth entry, which opens Oct. 26, has spent several years working on the movie version of an opera hatched with screenwriter-composers Darren Smith and Terrance Zdunich. Dan Heffner and Twisted's Carl Mazzocone, Mark Burg and Oren Koules are producing.

Hilton will sing in a futuristic thriller framed around musical numbers that range from opera to rock. The setting is 2056, when a plague nearly destroys the human race and survival is dependent upon being able to finance a pricey organ transplant.

Hilton plays a daughter of the organ transplant magnate (Sorvino) who is the villain of the piece.

"This movie has become my life," said Bousman. "I have auditioned at least 30 actresses for this role -- Paris came in and owned it. She is this role."

"We saw many actresses for the role, and Paris sang it better than all of them," added Mazzocone.

Singing gig won't be Hilton's first, as she released the self-titled album "Paris" last year. Aside from her long run in reality show "The Simple Life," Hilton has acted in films such as "House of Wax" and "Raising Helen."

"Repo!" is her first film job since her brief jail stint, and since she's agentless, her deal was negotiated by Paris Hilton Entertainment's Jason Moore, who manages her.
