Standing with My Black, Latino, LBGT Brothers & Sisters

Ever since the election of Trump I've noticed I have friends who are sincerely concerned for the physical safety of people in America. That either Trump would orchestrate state mass murder, or somehow allow or cause it. I have one close friend who even fears mass murder. I have or have had very close friends who are black, latino and gay. So I tell them I stand with my black, latino and LBGT brothers and sisters. I would not stand still and let harm come to them.

I do not share the assessment that Trump can cause, trigger or allow it. But since I can't fully calm the concern with vocalizing my assessments, I can say I'm there.

For what it's worth, I've been a student of international and national affairs since I was a young child. I happen to know (many of) the views of the wide variance of Trump supporters. And I know quite a bit about Trump and what he's said publicly. And to say the least, there isn't a social environment, nor a Presidential structure, nor Trump background for mass murder.

Comments welcome.

I think people tending towards assholishness will feel more emboldened to be violent verbally and physically. They'll feel verification of their feelings in his election. They'll now think there are a lot of other people like them, not just their friends and/or family who feel the same.

I'm 100% behind this sentiment. I think we have things in place that would not allow Trump or any other American political leader to commit these kinds of atrocities, but I will stand with anyone who feels threatened, or is in fear of persecution and physical harm. I will do so proudly.

Say more, what does this mean? Show trials, mass murder, executions are not likely?

For the gays, I am not so worried about Trump, who is to the left of Obama on these issues, but his supporters, particularly the alt-right.

I'm just going to say this as a warning, not that anyone is doing this now:

Keep this conversation civilized, or it will be closed.

Trump picked one of the most notoriously homophobic governors in the country as his VP, and he's vowed to pass the First Amendment Defense Act which allows discrimination against LGBT people as long as it's for religious reasons. Mike Pence wants to take funding away from AIDS and put it towards conversion therapy.

Yes, gay people are worried about Trump.

It's just political fervor and celebrity obsession...Remember when nobody really had Aids till Magic Johnson came out and said he had it, then it was a big deal. Same kinda thing.......Don't get played by the system.

Also the former executive of Brietbart as chief strategist. Steve Bannon is crazy scary and very anti-semitic.

You got jokes huh?
Tell ya what tho...Folks round here think of Mrs.DBT and I as alternative culture.

Speakin' to what Boss was sayin' tho....Yeah racists and homophobics are gonna feel emboldened...what's new? That kinda stuff is so deep seated in our culture....I'm sure we all got some horror stories to tell....

A modern political face on a primitive cultural issue don't change my level of consciousness.
