I see where you're all coming from on The Village. I guess my question would be: what about any of M. Knight's previous flicks made you expect that this film would be a horror/slasher type gory film? I too am a blood and guts guy, but I was able to enjoy the Village, and not expect a straight up horror flick. C'mon guys there's no way that it sucked that bad. I figured out the plot twists also, but what do you expect from Knight's 4th effort? He's already announced that he can only make one more supernatural thriller then it's other genres of films, because the expectations are unreasonably high. If this flick was made by any one other than Knight, I think people would be loving it.
By the way, did anyone catch Knight's cameo in the film?

It would have been much better if the blind chick was possesed by Pazuzu and "those we dont speak of" were actually children of the corn.

The Village was a cool movie...and yes, the plot started to become predictable for some of us..but the premise was an excellent theory that I have even thought would be great to do-remove one's self back to a time of innocence that has sadly disenegrated. Shayamalan is known for misrepresenting the "monsters" and the plot-"Signs" is an excellent example of this. It was no horror movie but a philosophal look at faith of all things. That didn't make it any less suspenseful in my book, but it was different than I expected. However, because of this last movie, I knew that the "monsters" of "The Village" wouldn't be the typical monsters to expect-and I was right. The real monsters were society, and this made complete sense. It is regretful that those of you who spent your money expecting killer mutants were cheated, but the movie definitely did NOT SUCK! Give the man credit where credit is due-his teasers were to bring in a large audience who wanted surprise and that it what he gave. I love pus-filled rotting zombies disemboweling people just as much as the next guy (or girl) but I respect a fresh plot that makes me think...And yes, I did begin to suspect the "truth" surrounding the village and its inception and I just wish I had thought to write it down so it would be my name preceding the title! One question, though..who was the actor playing the security guard that assisted Ivy once she crossed over the fence? I could swear it was Jouquin with makeup on. Could someone clarify this for me! Thanks! Tonya

Yep......thought as much.

The Village is out in the UK in a bit. Was tryin to decide whether to see it or not but now i dont think i'll bother.

the guy who made it made 'Signs' didn't he??? That was fuckin atrocious. Load of crap. They made that out to be jumpy and scary and there was only one jumpy bit in the whole film.......where a grey walks infront of the camera.

Latas.....p x

If it hadn't been marketed as a horror film, then I wouldn't hate it. It would have been a good movie, if it had been marketed as "suspense" instead of "horror". The commercials AND the trailers were completely misleading. It left me feeling cheated and violated. THAT is why I hate this movie.
