Book Title/author

I'M LOOKING FOR A BOOK I READ IN THE EARLY 90'S WHICH WAS WRITTEN ABOUT THE SAME TIME IF NOT THE LATE 80'S.

A MAN IS RENOVATING A FAMILY MANSION IN UPSTATE NY. THERE IS SOME SORT OF KINETIC MONSTER THAT DESTROYS EVERYTHING IN IT'S PATH.
A GROUP OF TEENAGERS ARE VANDALIZING THE PLACE ONE NIGHT AND I BELIEVE ALL ARE KILLED EXCEPT ONE GIRL WHO IS
TRAUMATIZED BY THE EVENT. SHE REFUSES TO SPEAK TO ANYONE AFTERWARD.EVENTUALLY THE MAN FINDS A SEALED OFF ROOM IN THE MANSION WHICH LEADS HIM TO THE IDENTITY OF THE MONSTER.

I ALSO REMEMBER HE HAS A GIRLFRIEND AND MAY BE A RECOVERING SUBSTANCE ABUSER. THERE IS ALSO AN OLD AUNT IN NYC WHO OWNS THE MANSION.

I'D APPRECIATE ANY HELP IN OBTAINING THE TITLE/AUTHOR.

Did the man in the book have Tourette's Syndrome? I think I read something just like this years ago. I keep everything that I read so I'll look and see if I can find it.
