Another good older Zombie flick that comes to mind is Dead and Buried. Its not your traditional apocalyptic zombie flick, but check it out. It also features a very young Robert Englund, which is cool to see.

maybe not very original due The Blair Witch Project & Cloverfield (although they can't be inspired by the last one mentioned) it brings something new to the zombiegenre and it sucks you into the movie.
I hated that movie so much that I didn't even finish watching it :(
