Hellraiser?
I was at a Bloodclots show (California punk band) and started talking to the singer about Clive Barker, he mentioned that Cenobites and the Hellraiser universe were open license, I have never found a concrete answer to this, does anyone know?

What do you mean by open license? Like Public Domain...? Or do you mean anyone can write a story/make a film without paying to use the imagery?

Ahh right I gotcha now :D
I haven't heard that anywhere and don't imagine Barker would let perhaps his most iconic characters be public domain. Maybe the dude was confused by all the fan films out there? I believe you can make those freely as long as there not making any money. |

That may be the case, but I gather that Barker is a pretty easy going dude.
Maybe he meant anyone can use the term Cenobite but not Pinhead or any of his buddies specifically.

Maybe be wants to create a 'Cenobite Mythos' with other writers in the same way Lovecraft did with Robert Howard etc

Yeah, it's possible, I do hope that is the case but my internet search safari has yet to yield results.

If I remember right, Clive Barker actually encourages the creativity from his fans to use the hellraiser mythos, but in no way is it public domain.

Stephen King also allowed limited use of his work with the dollar babies.
